Online Grocery Shopping: Why You Should Start Doing It

I never thought that I would ever find it necessary for me to do my grocery shopping online.  I always thought that people that did this were either extremely wealthy or for people that don’t/can’t leave their houses.  Obviously, those are just assumptions that are extremely wrong about the topic.  I just tried online grocery shopping for the first time and I am so excited to start doing all my grocery shopping this way.  Here are some reasons you should look into doing your grocery shopping online.

#1. It is a Time Saver

It took me about twenty-five minutes from start to finish in my online grocery shopping experience.  This is such a time saver for me being a trip to the store along with drive time usually takes me an hour and a half.  You can also do this at any time of the day, you just pick your pickup time to fit your schedule or you can even have it delivered from certain places.

#2.  Saves Energy

This is especially true for those of us that suffer from chronic illnesses.  Somedays we can’t even get out of bed let alone go to the grocery store and walk around picking out all your items.  Sometimes when I am in the middle of bad flare-ups I will find myself not being able to get to the store for one or two weeks because I don’t have the energy and I am in too much pain to do so.  This is such a great option for those times when you don’t have the energy but don’t want to live off of fast food and delivery until your flare-up ends.

#3.  Helps You Stay on Budget

This is totally one of the biggest things I took away from my experience.  You know the price of everything going into your cart and you can watch the total in the upper corner of your screen so you know if you go over what you budgeted for your grocery “trip”.  You can play around with what you are adding and the quantity of the items to easily get back on budget at the end of your trip also.  Note: The taxes and Delivery/Pickup fee are not added in this total, for my order, I only had to pay $4.95 for my pickup fee.

Sticking to your budget is so important

#4.  Helps you Make Better Choices

If you are someone that writes out your list and is able to stick to that list on your grocery trip good for you.  I am not one of those people and I will find other sales or items throughout my trip and at them to my cart even when I know I don’t need them.  Shopping online really helps keep you from adding random chips, treats and other things to your cart that you really didn’t plan on getting and that you don’t need.  The site I used didn’t even really advertise anything other than what I was searching for and I really appreciated that.  At the end it did have some recommendations of stuff I might have missed, but otherwise, there were no temptations during my shopping “trip”.

#5.  It Doesn’t Cost That Much More

Many people would think that prices are more expensive when you order groceries online.  This isn’t true at all, I was able to get all the same deals that were going on in the store and the only thing that cost me more was the $4.95 pick-up fee.  I got the same amount of groceries and didn’t spend any more than I would have if I had gone into the store.  I actually probably spent less because it is so much easier to avoid temptations and to keep track of how much everything costs.

So easy, I could do it.

Shopping online for groceries was one of the most convenient and stress-free things I have done.  You should give it a try and share your experience with me.

I order groceries online because it makes me feel like I still contribute and it’s one less thing my husband has to do. He already does so much since I rarely am able to help around the house and can’t drive anyway.

Since it saves him time, it gives him more time at home to do other things or simply be with me. He works so hard to try to do everything he can.

Another time saving advantage to this is that you can usually save a basic order list on the store’s website and then next time you order, add order, just modify it.

I think that the time and energy it saves are more than worth the average $5.00 delivery fee!

Great post, can’t wait to check out more of ypur blog.

That is such a great tip, I didn’t know I could save a basic list to make it even quicker the next time. I will have to look into that.
